Face to a screen, a screen to a name: another modern life running on fluorescent light. Plans for the band abandoned for days at the subtle solitude of all my friends moving away. Remember the past, a passage that read: you could be anyone here after some planning ahead. But lately I’ve felt, a feeling too late: to say I’m really gonna (ask me if I ever wanna) talk about giving ‘em hell again, or chalk it up: we’re “getting too old” for this? To hold to it. Is there some place you need to be? To reinvent yourself. To being someone else. To ch-ch-ch-change your mind: it’s allowed, it’s routine. It’s about what you need. It’s ringing in my head again: there’s nothing here to see but parking lots are lately what I’m up against: is who I’m supposed to be.It’s ringing in my head again: a lot like being free and shopping carts. Are lately what I’m up against: is where I need to be to reinvent myself. To being someone else. To ch-ch-ch-change my mind: it’s allowed, it’s routine. It’s about what you need.

Yes

Hesitant, but always absent a reason. Doing fine, and everybody is leaving. The back door open to the hot air. How long can I really sit here? Maybe next time I’ll say: yes. Never meant, or never really intended. Out the mind, another weekend is ending. King of half-answered requests, grant us the power to get dressed. And maybe next time I’ll say: “yes, sounds great.” Out the door, don’t be late! Just ignore all the shit that’s going wrong. When it all stands still at the thought–what a thrill: to accept where you go, who you love, that you will. And when we stumble home, I can feel it. You’re cracking all my jokes, and maybe we oughta stay a little longer. I gotta learn to say: yes.

Waste

Staring straight with the sky. Some kinda day, not much to say: I’m bored at life! Deep sleep (but up in the night), rolling in bed, and thumbing through bread so stale so I just throw it away. Throw it away to decompose, or down the line. How you gonna waste your time? Gone through every other phase and flight, ‘til someday it feels right–you know it will, how ‘bout tonight? And no, I’ve never known what it’s like to be on top of life–but I think it could, I think I might. Slow and sunken like a stone through time I wanna waste. I wanna waste.

I know, here it goes: talks on Tim’s porch, am I stuck? Oh no, I never know do real friends grow old or get fucked up? Left on cruise control (just like going slow while I can). Shit shows, mobile homes, five bucks, long walks to the van. When you see I’m going out again, do you wonder where I’ve been?
Yeah so, laying low: that’s all we wrote, that’s tough luck. Stone's throw even though moved out, moved far where I’m from. When you hear I’m coming home again, do you wonder where I’ve been?

Always thought that–hadn’t believed–you were anything other than a waste of time, wasted lines in a tome. Can I turn back, or will you smite me? What if I try, what if I’m right? Every brick down was laid mistakenly (I guess that’s what I get for working alone). I know I’m forgiven, that’s why I sin. So long, or still going? Good God gone bad. And all that was, or never was: I’m sifting through the wreckage of.

Mixed Reviews

Have any questions? I’ve got a few. Where have I been? How do you do? Who do you care for & what will you lose? If life is a game, I’m giving in. Or I’m giving mixed reviews, yeah that’s all I can do. I’m giving mixed reviews, at least if this much is true. Make your concessions: how will I do anything justice? Own or up to. Mailbox or milk door: what will you choose? If it’s all the same, I’m giving in. Or I’m giving mixed reviews, yeah that’s all I can do. I’m giving mixed reviews, at least if this much is true.
